Green Accelerator: grants for sustainable export projects

The process of upscaling and realizing export projects can be costly as well as demanding, and sometimes, investors and exporters may be hard put to finance the preliminary phases in full.
To support future Danish export projects, 85 million DKK has therefore been allocated to the green project maturation program EIFO Green Accelerator. Many green projects have already received funding commitments under the program, and 15 million DKK is available for new commitments in the second application round in 2026.
Eligible projects
The grant is aimed at supporting the development of green projects. This refers to projects and solutions that, for example, reduce the use of fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions, promote energy efficiency and efficient resource use, or address food or water shortages.

Green Accelerator case: SolarLab
SolarLab manufactures customized solar cell facades for buildings around the world.
The company is based on a clear vision that all buildings should be sustainable and self-sufficient. With its tailor-made product and big ambitions, SolarLab was awarded funding through EIFO's Green Accelerator, which helped SolarLab realize one of its biggest export dreams: entering the US market.
SolarLab saw the US as an obvious market, with large buildings and many of them. With their proprietary simulation tool, which allows facades to be adapted to both new buildings and older buildings as retrofits, they used the Green Accelerator funds to market themselves as a reliable and sustainable Danish success story worth collaborating with in international markets.

The Grant requires contribution from the applicant
The grant is awarded under the EU’s “De Minimis” rules, and according to those rules, each participating company may receive a grant of up to EUR 300,000, provided that the company has not exhausted its “De Minimis” budget through other grants. To ensure ownership of the project, companies must contribute 30% of the budget for individual companies or 20% of the budget if the application is submitted by an alliance of companies seeking funding for a joint export project. The grant is awarded as a reimbursement of expenses incurred upon completion of the project activities.

Please note that it is advisable to start preparing your application well in advance, as coordinating with other applicants and drafting the application may take time.
To be eligible for funding for project maturation, the project, your application, and you as the applicant must meet a number of requirements, which are outlined in the Application Guide.
Types of grants offered
Applications are primarily invited to cover the costs of consulting, advisory services, and expert assistance. Services might include
- assistance with feasibility studies
- market research
- legal advice
- ESG compliance analysis
- awareness raising campaigns targeting decision-makers
- advice on filing for patents
- marketing campaigns and events, etc.
The costs of project management, accounting and travel can also be subsidised. To a lesser extent, purchase of hardware can also be included in the budget.

What project maturation activities are eligible for funding?
Under the EIFO Green Accelerator programme, funding is primarily available to cover the costs of consultancy services, advisory support, and expert assistance. Eligible activities may include:
- Feasibility studies
- Market analyses
- Legal advisory services
- ESG compliance assessments
- Awareness-raising activities targeting decision-makers
- Advice on patent applications
- Marketing campaigns and events
In addition, funding may be used to cover costs related to project management, auditing, and travel. To a more limited extent, the purchase of hardware may also be included in the project budget.
How much funding can I receive?
Green Accelerator can fund up to 80% of your eligible project costs, with a maximum grant amount of EUR 300,000.
Programme Regulation
EIFO administers the Green Accelerator programme on behalf of the Danish Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs. For the legal framework and general conditions governing the programme, please refer to the Executive Order.
