EIFO finances another wind farm in Taiwan

EIFO provides a project financing guarantee of 150 million euros (1.1 billion DKK) for the construction of a 495 MW new offshore wind farm in Taiwan with significant Danish involvement.

The Fengmiao 1 Offshore Windfarm is developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). Vestas will supply 33 V236-15MW turbines for the park and Semco Maritime in a joint-venture the Offshore substation.

"This financing agreement aligns very well with EIFO’s strategy to support effective green energy projects and strengthen Danish exports. We are very pleased to once again contribute to financing a wind farm in Taiwan, where Danish players such as Vestas and Semco Maritime play a key role," said Peter Boeskov, CCO of EIFO.

Fengmiao I has secured financing from 27 international and Taiwanese banks, some of which will be guaranteed by four export credit agencies (ECAs), including EIFO.

It will be the first project in Taiwan with multiple corporate offtakers, in total six large corporates in Taiwan that will buy the electricity that Fengmiao I produces.

The offshore wind farm is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
